Danube à sec : des soldats allemands, des navires nazis et des os de mammouth refont surface
This handout photo taken on August 4, 2026 and obtained from the German War Graves Commission on August 7, 2026 shows a German military motorcycle found at the shore of the Danube river in Budapest, opposite the Hungarian Parliament building. More than 80 years after the end of World War II, the bodies of two German Wehrmacht soldiers—exposed by the historically low water level of the Danube—have been exhumed in Budapest. A recovery specialist from the German War Graves Commission retrieved the remains from the riverbed in the Hungarian capital, the organization announced on August 7, 2026. Two identification tags were also found at the site. According to the association, the mortal remains of the two men were found on August 2 in the riverbed of the Danube—opposite the Hungarian Parliament—alongside a German military motorcycle and several anti-tank mines. Consequently, bomb disposal experts were deployed. Handout / German War Graves Commission / AFP
