Venezuela-Maracay - July 7, 2025. The Russian state-owned company Rostec announced the launch of an ammunition factory for Kalashnikov assault rifles today, Monday, July 7, in the city of Maracay, Venezuela. The complex, built with support from the export agency Rosoboronexport, has the capacity to produce up to 70 million 7.62 mm cartridges per year, according to information released by the Russian news agency Sputnik. In addition to ammunition production, Russia plans to incorporate new lines to manufacture Kalashnikov AK-103 rifles within the same complex. The goal is to establish a production chain that includes everything from the cartridge to the complete weapon. According to the Russian news agency, the aim is to equip the Venezuelan army, police, and other security forces with this armament. (Photo by Humberto Matheus/Sipa USA)
