Poignardé et couvert de sang, le pilote Smit Machchhar trouve encore la force d’ouvrir le cockpit : le geste qui a sauvé 174 vies
This handout photograph released by the Israel's Foreign Ministry on September 30, 2026 shows Indian pilot Smit Machchhar, the captain of flydubai flight FZ 1073. Israel's leader credited the pilot and passengers of a Dubai-Tel Aviv flight with averting catastrophe on September 30 after they overpowered a co-pilot who allegedly tried to crash the aircraft, forcing an emergency landing. The Indian embassy said Machchhar was being treated at a hospital in Saudi Arabia and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi described him as a "HERO" in a social media post on October 1.
