October 31, 2026, Berlin, Berlin, Germany: Riot police confront masked protesters as red flares burn and tensions escalate during the ''Gen Z hat genug!'' (Gen Z Has Had Enough!) demonstration on Prenzlauer Allee in Berlin, Germany, on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The protest began at Rosenthaler Platz and grew to approximately 3,000 participants, according to Berlin police. Confrontations erupted as bottles, firecrackers and stones were thrown at police officers, while demonstrators blocked and vandalized a Berlin public transit tram. Police halted the march before it reached its planned destination at the Prenzlauer Allee S-Bahn station, and several people were detained. The demonstration, which drew participants from left-wing activist groups, took place amid nationwide youth protests against cuts to education and social spending, rising living costs and proposed compulsory military service. Unlike an earlier, largely peaceful Gen Z rally at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, the evening demonstration was marked by confrontations with police and the use of pyrotechnics.
